Hands and Feet Turkey

What You Need:

Construction paper -- brown, tan, orange, red, yellow and white

Scissors

Glue

Wiggle eyes, optional

What to Do:

1. Trace the child's hands and feet -- two feet (with shoes on) on brown construction paper; two hands on tan construction paper; two hands on red construction paper; two hands on orange construction paper; and one hand on yellow construction paper.

2. Cut out all the pieces.

3. Put the two feet tracings together to make the turkey body and head, matching the heels together, and spreading the bottoms apart. Glue.

4. Cut two feet out of the orange scraps, and cut a diamond shape for the beak. Draw the eyes on white paper and cut them out, or use wiggle eyes. Make the wattle out of red construction paper. Glue them onto the body.

5. Glue the red, orange, and yellow construction paper hands behind the brown body to make the tail.

6. Position the two tan hands to either side to make the turkey's wings and glue them in place.

Toilet Paper Holder Turkey

What You Need:

2 toilet paper tubes

Construction paper -- brown, yellow, red, white and black

Pencil

Glue

Scissors

Tempera paints or watercolor paints in a fall colors

Paintbrush

Stapler

What to Do:

1. With the pencil trace around the child's hand on one piece of white construction paper. (Note: You may wish to trace larger around the child's hand to make the turkey feathers bigger and also make it easier for the child to cut out.) Cut out the pattern.

2. Paint the hand pattern with different colors of paints. Let the paint dry.

3. Cut one of the toilet paper tubes in half to form two smaller tubes.

4. Cut out brown construction paper big enough to fit around the two toilet paper tubes.

5. Staple the two tubes together, the shorter on top of the longer one then staple the construction paper to the tubes.

6. Cut out a beak and feet out of the yellow construction paper, a gobbler out of red construction paper, and eyes out of white and black construction paper.

7. Attach the eyes, beak, feet, and gobbler to the tubes with glue.

8. Staple the feathers to the back of the tubes when the feathers are dry.

Make a 'Hand'some Reindeer

What You Need:

Brown construction paper (you can use craft foam or felt too)

Tan construction paper (you can use craft foam or felt too)

White paper or wiggle eyes

Black or red construction paper or a black or red pom-pom

Glue or tape

Crayon or marker

What to Do:

1. Trace two hands on the tan construction paper. Trace one foot (with a shoe on) on the brown construction paper.

2. Cut out the shapes, and arrange as illustrated - with the two hand shapes making the antlers on the deer, glue or tape into place.

3. Turn the project over to the back and write the child's name and date.

4. Draw and cut out eyes and a nose (or use wiggle eyes, and a pom-pom for the nose).

5. Glue on the eyes and nose.

For painting, I recommend that you make the foot pattern from craft foam, then put the paint on it, and stamp it onto the shirt. For the antlers, you could put paint directly on the child's hands or (especially with a very young child) make patterns like for the foot/face from craft foam and use it to stamp the hand antlers on. You might want to reverse the color choices, and make the face lighter brown and the antlers dark.
